Upcoming Exhibition: ‘Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life’ | Welcome2TheBronx

Starting on May 16, The New York Botanical Garden will be exhibiting works from Mexican painter Frida Kahlo de Rivera (July 6, 1907–July 13, 1954). Kahlo, born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón, is best known for her self-portraits (and perhaps the metric ton of merchandise inspired by her art) and is renowned for her depiction of the indigenous culture of Mexico and her uncompromising portrayal of womanhood.

The exhibition, titled Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life, will run from May 16 – Nov 1, and will include performing arts and family events celebrating her life and work. For a full breakdown of events scheduled, check out Welcome2TheBronx.
