Film Screening: ‘Da Sweet Blood of Jesus,’ a Spike Lee joint @ RAW SPACE in Harlem | ImageNation

Spike Lee’s Kickstarter-funded, revenge thriller Da Sweet Blood of Jesus closed out the American Black Film Festival last year and recently had a limited run in theaters. A remake of the landmark, 1973 independent film Ganja and Hess by playwright and filmmaker Bill Gunn, the film similarly features vampirism as a “metaphor for black assimilation, white cultural imperialism, and the hypocrisies of organized religion,” according to Variety Chief Film Critic, Scott Foundas.

In case you missed the limited release, Harlem-based media arts organization ImageNation Cinema Foundation will be screening the film at RAW SPACE in Harlem on Friday, Mar 13. Check out a trailer of the film here, and for more details or to purchase tickets, visit Imagenation.
